Custom Flight Locations Tutorial

Updated: Oct 2, 2023

In this tutorial, you will learn how to simulate flight at any location around the globe using custom flight locations.

Usage

Click on 'Location->New' on SIMNET's toolbar to open the New Location dialog.

Use the Search Bar to enter an address or location name, then click on 'Go' to show that location. Note that you may also enter coordinates using the Decimal Degrees format (e.g. 41.40338, 2.17403), Degrees Minutes Seconds format (e.g. 41 24 12.2 N, 2 10 26.5 E) or Degrees and Decimal Minutes format (e.g. 41 24.2028 N, 2 10.4418 W).

Zoom in closer to a specific area using the mouse scroll wheel, or by clicking and dragging with the right mouse button. Click on the 'Select Takeoff Location' button, then click on the map to select where the aircraft will be located. Move the mouse around to point the aircraft at the desired takeoff heading, then click again to save that heading.

Click on the 'Select Pilot Location', then click on the map to specify where the pilot will be located. Place the pilot close to the aircraft, so it is easily visible from the pilot's point of view.

Enter a location name in the Name field, then save your location. You may now load the location using the 'Location->Load...' menu on the toolbar.
